Occuaptional and Speech Therapy Services
Advanced Therapy Care offers a variety of skilled speech-language pathology and occupational therapy services including consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for all ages. We have therapists with school-based experience and we are willing to contract with local school districts to fill vacant SLP positions. We also have several therapists who are trained in VitalStim therapy for treating patients with swallowing disorders.
Adult Speech Therapy Services
In general, adult speech therapy services are misunderstood and underutilized. Areas we commonly address include both speaking and listening, alternative communication, tongue thrust, swallowing disorders, voice disorders, and neurogenic disorders. Adult services are typically broken into youth (15-21), adult (21-65), and geriatric (65+).
Pediatric Speech Therapy Services
Improving communication, cognition, feeding and swallowing can all start at very early ages. Whether you're looking for early intervention (0-3) facilitation for a child with a known medical diagnoses such as Down syndrome or Cerebral Palsy, or you're concerned because your child isn't talking like others his age, early intervention speech language pathology can give the boost your child needs or keep him from experiencing more frustration.
Pediatric Occupational Therapy Services
The act of playing is an important tool that influences a child’s life. The primary goals of childhood are to grow, learn, and play. It is often through play that children learn to make sense of the world around them. It is a child’s “job” or “occupation” to play to develop physical coordination, emotional maturity, social skills to interact with other children, and self-confidence to explore new environments. Our Occupational Therapists have expertise in evaluating children's neurological, muscular, and emotional development, and determining the effects of infant and childhood illness on growth and development.
Many of our patients suffer from Sensory Processing Disorder. This results from difficulties in how the nervous system receives, organizes, and uses sensory information from the body and environment. One person may over-respond to input from clothing, physical contact, sounds, lights, and food; while another person may under-respond by showing very little reaction to stimulation, or even to pain. Difficulties in sensory processing may impact organization of behavior, self-care activities, motor planning, self-regulation, and social skill.
The Stone Tongue Thrust Protocol (STTP) is a unique replacement to traditional models for remediation of the tongue thrust. The focus, structure, and intensity of the program are unique in the blending of awareness, muscle isolation, and correct placement with habituation. The efficient delivery of the protocol offers unprecedented and cost-effective outcomes. No where else will you experience such dramatic and complete results in a short amount of time.
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES)
Advanced Therapy Care is excited to announce that we now offer E-Stim therapy to our swallowing patients. E-Stim is short for neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). The use of NMES is not a new treatment modality. The idea of using electrical stimulation to treat disease has been around since 400 B.C. when torpedo fish were used to treat headaches and arthritis.
